Dayspring Academy Flex Education Learner Guidelines
As a flex education learner, you are part of our Dayspring Community. These guidelines will provide you with everything you need to know to be a Dayspring learner.
-
All Flex Education learners are expected to follow the rules, policies, and expectations outlined in the 2025-2026 Dayspring Academy Learner Handbook. This includes behavioral expectations, classroom conduct, and academic integrity. We have high expectations for our learners and making a positive contribution to the classroom environment is expected of all learners.
-
In order to promote a safe and supportive learning environment and to enhance school safety, maintain order, and promote a positive atmosphere, Dayspring Academy requires learners to adhere to the uniform policy. Flex Education learners are required to wear apparel that meets the uniform policy requirements on all days they are on campus. Appropriate apparel can be purchased at the store of your choice. Please refer to the Learner Handbook or school website for details on uniform requirements.
-
Flex Education learners are not considered full-time learners of Dayspring Academy. Their participation is limited to the elective courses in which they are enrolled.
-
Flex Education learners must arrive on campus no more than 10 minutes before the beginning of the class period in which they are enrolled and they must check in at the front office.
Once the class period has ended, Flex Education learners must check out at the front office and be picked up within 10 minutes. We are unable to provide a supervised area for Flex Education learners beyond the 10 minutes before and after a class.
-
Flex Ed learners are welcome to participate in events, performances, field trips, and activities that are directly connected to the elective courses they are taking through Dayspring Academy.
They are not eligible to participate in school-wide events, extracurricular clubs, sports teams, learner leadership roles, or activities unrelated to the course in which they are enrolled.
-
While on campus, Flex Education learners are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that reflects the values and community standards of Dayspring Academy. This includes showing respect for staff, peers, property, and learning environments.
Dayspring Academy reserves the right to terminate the enrollment of Flex Education learners at any time due to continued breach of any of the guidelines referenced in this document.
-
Flex Education learners must attend all scheduled classes on time. Absences should be communicated in advance to the course instructor and learners are responsible for any missed work. Regular attendance and participation in classroom activities is essential for success in our elective courses.
-
All grades and academic feedback for Flex Education learners will be reported to Pasco County Schools through MyStudent by the assigned elective course teacher. Parents or guardians are encouraged to view their learner’s grades in the MyStudent platform and maintain open communication with the teacher to discuss academic progress.
-
In accordance with Pasco County Schools, Flex Education learners are not entitled to assessment or classroom accommodations; however, Dayspring teachers design their instruction with the best interest of all learners in mind. Families are encouraged to consider this when enrolling in elective courses.
What is Flex Education?
The Flex Education Program is a new opportunity for home education learners in Pasco County to participate in courses offered in public high schools and/or public virtual schools while maintaining their home education status.
This program is specifically designed for learners using Family Empowerment Scholarships (FES) or Florida Tax Credit (FTC) Scholarships, but is also open to all home education learners who pay privately.
